Coming home, I barely avoided a bad accident. The road on the way home is a high speed local road with speed limit of 65 mph. I was doing around 60-65 and going through a large intersection when a Kia decides to casually pull out right in front of me. It was too close to hit the brakes so I decided to do a swerve. No brakes, all throttle! And I'm sure coilovers helped out at least somewhat.
I came about a foot from hitting him. Both cars would have been totaled and both of us would be arriving at the local hospital right about now.

I'd like to see an intersection that you can cross at 65 mph... here in Italy we do not have anything like that. Too bad, because it must be quite fun... kinda a russian roulette, but with cars. Do you use to wear a bandanna, when you drive through it?

That's near my old place around Phoenix. Typical main road intersection. Both roads have limits of 45 mph, but most traffic does around 60 mph. I've even been cruising with traffic near 70 mph. When you have the green, you just go through.

I've had that happen to me SEVERAL times. Pretty high pucker factor. Glad you avoided it!

Here's the exact intersection I mentioned. It was a green light so I decided to keeping cruising through it at 65. A Kia from the right turns onto this road, but instead of turning onto the rightmost lane, the guy decided to cut across all three lanes and go to the leftmost right in front of me.

Isn't the limit only 60 on that stretch of Parmer?
Edit: Yes, it is.

I live very near this place. The limit on that stretch of road is 60 mph. The cross street at that intersection has a limit of 45 mph. The fun part is when you're sitting on the cross street at the light, your light turns green, and one or two people blow through the red at 65 or more.

You're right, it's 60 there and 65 a few miles north. I need to be more careful. Parmer intersections are dangerous.

Thank God, for that: 45 mph is not 65 mph... also because braking at a sudden yellow light when running at 65 mph, sure must be a helluva fun!
True is that here in Italy and as far as I know in all the rest of 'Urop (dunno in the U.K., but the U.K. is NOT 'Urop)... true is I repeat that ALL our traffic lights have a speed limit of 50 km/h (31 mph), or lesser.
True is as well that ALL repeat ALL 'Uropean traffic lights are in the urban areas, and urban speed limit is 50 km/h. No traffic lights on our highways and no traffic lights that you can cross at a higher speed than 50 km/h. Sure USA is another planet...
